THE LOST GARDEN

PUBLIC ART INSTALLATION

Immersive installation, inspired by the mythology of lost gardens and the purpose of greenhouses, explores the fading presence of nature in a world increasingly shaped by human activity. Myths of lost gardens, such as the Garden of Eden, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, and the Celtic Otherworld, focus on themes of paradise, human longing, and the loss of harmony with nature. These stories often reflect human mistakes—such as disobedience or pride—and remind us of a perfect past that can never fully be recovered.
  • In this installation, inside the greenhouse—usually a place where sunlight creates a nurturing environment for plants—artificial light takes over. Industrial materials like electrical cables and laser projections simulate urban light pollution. The laser beams shift as visitors move through the space, symbolizing nature’s ongoing struggle and resilience in the face of human interference. Additionally, instead of real plants, artificial flowers and trees made from industrial materials are used to evoke the memory of a once-thriving garden, now lost.
